Dr. Alina Artemova
Alina Artemova has completed Ph.D. in Vocal Pedagogy at the University of Arts in Moscow, Russia; and holds Master of Music Degree from prestigious Tchaikovsky Conservatory of Music, Moscow, Russia; where she studied choral conducting, voice, piano, and graduated with Honors, Magna Cum Laude.
She has been on the Music Faculty at Golden West College since 1994, taught voice and piano classes as well as applied voice and piano students, accompanied concert choirs and performed as a Soprano soloist for major orchestral-choral productions.
Dr. Artemova has taught for over 20 years at various colleges and universities, including most recently, California State University of Long Beach, GWC, and Orange Coast College. Many of her students have gone to successful careers in music and theater arts, singing with various opera companies around the world, including the Metropolitan Opera in New-York and the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow; some are featured on TV and in movie productions. Others entered graduate and post graduate programs at various universities, such as Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, CSULB and University of Southern California, or joined local choirs.
Alina has performed internationally in Europe and the United States, sung opera and chamber repertoire, was featured as soprano soloist in many major orchestral productions, presented numerous solo recitals, and sang or played piano with various ensembles. She toured with Russian Philharmonic Society and the Union of Composers, performed in the most prestigious concert halls in Moscow, including Kremlin Palace, Great Hall of Tchaikovsky Conservatory, as well as locally, at Segerstrom Hall in Orange County and Barkley Theater. As an Artistic Director of the concert series “At the Gallery of Music”, she presented numerous concerts, collaborating in performance with highest rank professional musicians. She produced and directed multiple Christmas Concerts at the Rose Center Theater on Westminster and Blessed Sacrament Church, Westminster.
Dr. Artemova was a recipient of a grant from GWC and developed collection of 8 Russian songs with translation and transliteration. In addition, she recorded CD in collaboration with pianist Leonid Levitsky, performing singing and recitation of these selections.
Alina presented articles for UNESCO conference in Moscow in 2012, published in multiple periodicals in Russia, lectured at Los Angeles World Mission University, as well as gave live presentations for the students, faculty and staff members of USC in Los Angeles, and Gnessin’s College in Moscow, Russia.
She directs community and church choirs, both English and Spanish; conducts combined bi-lingual and tri-lingual (English, Spanish, Vietnamese) Choirs at Blessed Sacrament church, Westminster, CA, serves as an organist/pianist at St. Vincent de Paul church in Huntington Beach, works with the children, teaches voice and piano lessons and prepares soloists. In the past, she’s coached and accompanied under-graduate and graduate voice students in Opera class at UCI and CSULB, and coached singers for the Opera Pacific and the Los-Angeles opera.
Dr. Artemova is highly regarded for her knowledge of Russian vocal and choral repertoire. She presents Master-classes and yearly offers Russian Intensive Seminar: Songs and Arias, Diction for Singers, sharing her expertise in Russian vocal music, teaching and coaching singers.
In addition, she teaches private students in her studio in Huntington Beach, and is a member of NATS, MTAC, CMS. She is consistently given high evaluations by the students and faculty at the colleges and universities.
Alina feels compelled to celebrate and share the beauty of music, with great quality and integrity, and with commitment to her students’ interests as they work together achieving their goals and further developing the talents.
