GWC Logo & Seal Downloads

The GWC logo was adopted September 21, 2005. The design was based on Golden West College’s niche—its location in Huntington Beach, California (Surf City, USA). The goal, achieved by the surfboard shape, was to visually identify GWC as the ‘College in Surf City’.

The GWC logo refers to the joining of two primary elements in the graphic identity system—the surfboard logo and the logotype. The logotype consists of the word identifiers GOLDEN WEST COLLEGE, HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA set in the official Optima typeface and style. HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA must always be a smaller font size by at least 2 pts.

The GWC Logo is unique and is one of the most important visual elements of the identity. In order for the logo to be used effectively in a considerable variety of applications, the system provides 5 different logos for Golden West College as well as variety of alternate logos exampled on the following pages.

Do not try to alter any aspect of the logo and do not try to recreate it. Use only the logos which have been supplied and approved.

EPS - All EPS files are saved as CMYK Illustrator CS2 EPS files for backwards compatibility and have all fonts outlined. These files are best for print production. JPEG - Saved at 72DPI RGB. These files are best for the web along with the PNG file. PNG - Saved as 72DPI RGB and have a transparent background. These files are best for Microsoft Office and Powerpoint. They can also be used for the web. PANTONE - All Pantone EPS files are saved as Illustrator CS2 EPS files for backwards compatibility and have all fonts outlined. THESE FILES CONTAIN THE PANTONE (PMS) COLORS. DO NOT USE THESE FOR 4 COLOR PRINTING. These files are best for print production.

GWC Seal
The official Golden West College seal was designed and approved in November, 2005. The Seal is used where a formal look is desired such as: certificates, diplomas, resolutions, and formal announcements or invitations. The design comprises the same typeface as the logo, a laurel leaf—symbolizing achievement, the year GWC was founded—1966, and GWC’s first slogan—Let Change be the Tradition. Its round shape symbolizes perfection.
