Meet the Staff


Mary Avalos is the Student Services Coordinator and Advisor to Student Government. She has been with Golden West College since 2004 and with the Coast Community College since 1998.  Mary is a Coastline Community College alumna before transferring to California State University, Long  Beach where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Vocational Education and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration.


Dennis Nañez, Office of Student Life and Leadership Staff Assistant, has been an employee at Golden West College since 2005.  Dennis enjoys playing sports such as baseball and basketball, and enjoys watching his favorite sports team, the La Dodgers. Dennis and his wife are the proud parents of a baby girl, Leilani Samantha! He is working toward earning his degree in Business at Cal State Fullerton, and is a proud alum of Golden West College—he earned his A.A. in Business Administration in 2007. If you have questions regarding campus events, clubs, or student leadership, Dennis is glad to help.


Carlo Tomàs has been part of the Student Activities team since 2010. Carlo is the type of employee who is always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needs him. He can often be found changing the marquee, keeping the Student Center in tip-top shape, and helping to make sure that events on campus run smoothly. Carlo’s interests are spending time with family and friends, outdoor activities such as grilling and sports, art, and music. Carlo’s goal is to complete his Certificate of Achievement in Digital and Audio Media.  He enjoys working for Golden West College & keeping the environment safe and clean for the campus community.



Jamey Briddle joined the Office of Student Life and Leadership in January of 2016. Jamey enjoys spending time with his fiance and his family, especially his 2 and a half year old nephew. Jamey is alum of Orange Coast College and received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of California Santa Cruz. You will find Jamey in the front of the Office of Student Life and Leadership pounding away at his keyboard or simply trying to be of service to the students in whatever capacity he can.
