Wes Bryan President of Golden West CollegeWelcome from the Golden West College President

Golden West College’s theme is “OCEANS OF OPPORTUNITY”

The other day I had the opportunity to walk a new student on a tour of our campus. During that walk, I was reminded that what is unique about Golden West College is not really the schedule you have in your hand right now. The special thing about this campus is the people who work here.

I was happy to introduce this student to faculty and staff members who are the best of the best. More than anything it is the people who work here that make this college what it is. We pride ourselves on a friendly staff and a vibrant faculty. We know that you are the reason we are here, and we want to serve you with kindness and professionalism. So when you feel stuck or don’t understand something in our schedule, give us a call, visit a counselor, stop by an office, or send us an email, and we will be glad to help you succeed at GWC.

Our college has recently changed our AA degree to better serve our students. The new degree you will read about in this schedule offers you 40 possible majors or areas of concentration. It also provides clearly articulated pathways to assist you in your transfer options to CSU or UC. GWC also offers 51 different career certificates, because some students are looking for entry level career preparation, while others are changing careers or coming back to refresh their skills. You will find classes that are offered in traditional 16 week format or you can opt for 8 week format or take an online class. Many classes are offered in the daytime or at night, while some are on the weekends. That’s what we mean by “Oceans of Opportunity.”

Of course the reason we have chosen the ocean as part of our theme is location, location, location! It would be hard to find a better place to study and play than Surf City (Huntington Beach), California. Our park-like campus is safe, serene, and spacious. GWC provides you with wonderful facilities – a contemporary student center, innovative student success center, up-to-date computer technologies, well maintained sports venues, advanced labs, and plenty of parking spaces. It doesn’t get any better than this, and that’s why I invite you to come to Golden West College where you will find “Oceans of Opportunity.”

Tahnee D. Le Associated Students President 2007-08Welcome from the Golden West College Associated Students President 2007-08

Welcome to GWC!

As students, we want professors who are knowledgeable and adaptive, staff members who are helpful and friendly, administrators who are inspiring and act in the interest of the students they govern.

As students, we want a campus that is diverse in cultures and activities. We want a campus that offers a bundle of resources we can use to achieve our academic goals. We want variety, we want excellence, and we want it all to be easily accessible.

At GWC, the services offered on campus cater to students’ needs, including: Tutoring, EOPS/Care Program, International Center, Financial Aid, ACE Center, Learning Resource Center, Counseling, Health Center, and Transfer Center, only to name a few.

Make your experience at Golden West College life-changing. Be active on campus through select clubs/organizations that provide opportunities for learning and developing social skills. Lead yourself to the path to success and personal fulfillment by making this college experience one to remember.
