Language Arts Complex - Measure M:
The new Language Arts Complex is nearing completion and the building is open for classes. Maintenance of new landscaping continues, installation of large letter signage on the interior and exterior of the building is forthcoming, and minor punch items are being resolved. Noise level will be low for these activities.
GenEd Bldg Demo Project - Campus and Measure M:
Hard demolition of the General Education building on campus continues with off hauling of recyclable crushed concrete and steel from the main building, and demolition of floor slabs and underground foundations. Intermittent power outages on campus are to be expected as the electrical power source is switched in preparation for demolition of the load center/restrooms on the south east side of the site. Demolition of the building and surrounding area are scheduled to be completed by the end of 2023, and new landscaping in place before the end of the spring 2024 semester. Construction vehicle activity will impact the parking lot near Auto Tech and the Native Garden, and the access road just north of the site. Extra care should be taken along the access road. There is no pedestrian access within the construction fence. Noise level will be moderate to high for these activities. (See attached map [PDF] for work area and construction vehicle routes)
Restroom Remodel Project - Campus:
Older restrooms throughout campus are being renovated. Planned closure for this week are the restrooms at the Fine Arts bldg. The nearest available restrooms to Fine Arts are in the Student Services Center and Rec Ed. Noise level will be medium to low for these activities. (See attached map [PDF] for work area)
Site Restoration Project - Campus:
Restoration of the old KOCE building demolition site located on the east side of campus between the Amphitheater and Fine Arts has been completed, with the construction fence remaining in place until new grass is established. There is no public access within the fence. New vegetation has been planted and the berm has been removed between the amphitheater and the site, creating an open, accessible area. New lighting has been installed for increased visibility. (See attached map [PDF] for work area)
