Construction Update for Week Beginning: 12/4/23

Language Arts Complex - Measure M:
The new Language Arts Complex is nearing completion and the building is open for classes.  Maintenance of new landscaping continues, installation of large letter signage on the interior and exterior of the building is forthcoming, and minor punch items are being resolved.  Noise level will be low for these activities.

GenEd Bldg Demo Project - Campus and Measure M:
Hard demolition of the General Education building on campus continues with off hauling of recyclable crushed concrete and steel from the main building, and demolition of floor slabs and underground foundations.  Demolition of the building and surrounding area are scheduled to be completed by the end of 2023, and new landscaping in place before the end of the spring 2024 semester.  Construction vehicle activity will impact the parking lot near Auto Tech and the Native Garden, and the access road along Auto Tech, north of the site.  Extra care should be taken along the access road.  There is no pedestrian access within the construction fence.  Noise level will be moderate to high for these activities.  (See attached map [PDF] for work area and construction vehicle routes)

Restroom Remodel Project - Campus:
Older restrooms throughout campus are being renovated.  Planned closures for this week include the restrooms at the Student Union and the Theater.  The nearest available restrooms to both are in the Student Services Center.  Noise level will be medium to low for these activities.  (See attached map [PDF] for work area)

Site Restoration Project - Campus:
Restoration of the old KOCE building demolition site located on the east side of campus between the Amphitheater and Fine Arts has been completed, with the construction fence remaining in place until new grass is established.  There is no public access within the fence.  New vegetation has been planted and the berm has been removed between the amphitheater and the site, creating an open, accessible area.  New lighting has been installed for increased visibility.   (See attached map [PDF] for work area)
