How to Respond to Immigration Enforcement on Campus

  1. Right to Remain Silent
    • Don’t answer any questions.
    • Do not volunteer any information.
    • Don’t say anything about where you were born or how you entered the U.S.
    • You can say: “I am exercising my right to remain silent..”
  1. Right to an Attorney
    • Do not sign any documents.
    • Signing papers could result in you unknowingly agreeing to deportation.
    • You can say: “I want to speak to a lawyer.”
  1. Be Courteous
    • Do not argue, run, or resist physically.
    • Do not provide false information.
    • If an ICE agent forces their way into a non-public space, you can deny permission, but do not obstruct them.
    • You can say: “I do not consent to your entry.”

IF YOU SEE ICE ON CAMPUS
