Golden West College Autism Program is a program created with students, for students
nothing about us without us

The College Autism Program (CAP) services Autistic students at Golden West College (GWC). It was developed by DSPS and students in 2014. Since its inception, the group has evolved into a multifaceted support system for GWC students and employees. CAP's commitment to Autistic students and the employees that work with them has been recognized by College Autism Spectrum, College Autism Network, and Great Value Colleges, all of whom recommend GWC for Autistic students.

Students in CAP have access to invaluable personalized services that enhance their scholastic and personal success. CAP offers inclusive and affirming case management designed specifically for Autistic college students. Students receive individual academic, social-emotional, career, crisis, and transfer counseling, and create impactful personal connections with other students, staff, and faculty.

GWC demonstrates campus-wide support for Autistic students through CAP and related activities. The college guarantees that enrolled students do not incur costs for participating in CAP, beyond general college tuition and fees. Additionally, during Autism Ally Week each April, GWC hosts an annual celebration of neurodiversity. This week includes activities and learning opportunities for all students, faculty, staff, and administrators at GWC.
