MESA Eligibility
- Must be a science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM) major requiring calculus
- Neither parent or guardian earned a bachelor's degree or higher in any country
- Must meet at least ONE of the "economically disadvantaged" criteria:
- Have unmet need per FAFSA or Dream Act
- Fee Waiver Eligible
- Grant Eligible
- BOG Eligible
- EOPS Eligible
- etc.
- Plan to transfer to a 4-year university to major in STEM
- Be a US Citizen, Permanent Resident, Dreamer or DACA
- Primary Program of Study *and* enrolled in at least one class at GWC
MESA Responsibilities
To obtain the most out of your MESA experience, you are encouraged to do the following:
- Be enrolled in at least one for-credit class (that is required for your major/degree/transfer goal) at GWC each semester to make academic progress toward your education goal
- Meet with the MESA Counselor at least once each semester; maintain an updated C-SEP (comprehensive student education plan)
- Participate in at least 5 MESA student activities each semester
- 3 of these must be study groups and/or guided review sessions
- Attend tutoring sessions or access other student services as recommended by the MESA Counselor or Director
- Respond to any phone calls or email messages from MESA staff in a timely manner
- Complete the FAFSA/California Dream Act Application
- Consult the MESA Counselor or Director before withdrawing from classes or leaving GWC
